The Benefits of B3 aka Niacinamide in Skincare

You may take vitamins each morning but did you know vitamins also show up in many hair and skin care products. B3 (niacinamide) has apparently been getting a lot of buzz lately but we've been using it for years and here's why.

I initially incorporated B3 (niacinamide) in our Goat Milk Face Cream to help support a healthy skin cell barrier and for its anti-aging benefits. The cream was designed to help hydrate dry skin and improve appearance and tone.

Niacinamide reportedly increases the production of ceramides, keratin, and components of the skins natural moisturizing factor. It thus enhances hydration, improves the resilience of the skin barrier function thus resulting in less moisture loss.

Niacinamide also has been shown to stimulate collagen synthesis and improve the skins thickness and elasticity to help keep the skin looking more youthful.

Niacinamide is also a boon to those with acne-prone skin. It reportedly reduces excess sebum production, reduces pore size, improves skin texture, and reduces inflammation associated with acneic skin.

Niacinamide is also helpful in addressing hyperpigmentation (as occurs with age spots) to help even skin tone. It inhibits the transfer of melanin to keratinocytes to even out skin tone.

Niacinamide is stable, combines well with other actives found in skin care, improves hydration, and is not typically irritating to the skin.

I also love incorporating niacinamide into brightening masks, gel serums, and moisturizers. And it's been part of the hero line up in our customer favorite Goat Milk Face Cream since 2018 and with good reason -- it helps support the skin barrier to improve hydration, brighten skin, and help it look more youthful and radiant.

I love when clients tell me that people compliment them on their complexion and ask what they use. I love when clients let me know their love how their face looks and feels. I love helping people look and feel their best using science backed ingredients in products made with care for people. And B3 is just one of many ingredients we love using in skin and hair care for its amazing benefits.

Are you a fan of niacinamide? What active ingredients do you look for in your skin care? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Aromatic blessings,

Tricia
