Lemon Essential Oil to the Rescue: Recipes for Cleaning and Energetic Support

Even though I've been using essential oils for ages I have to admit that I am often still in awe of how wonderfully they work in so many situations. I have never met a person who doesn't like lemon essential oil -- you may be out there somewhere but I haven't met you yet -- and lemongrass now that's a different story but I digress. Lemon (Citrus limon) is sunny, uplifting, and of course citrusy. I use it in blends for many reasons -- because it smells good, it supports the immune system, it has analgesic, and anti-inflammatory properties, it supports the liver, fights germs, is a skin penetration enhancer, and can have diuretic effects. It's great for cleaning and diffusing and as long as yo

All in the Family... and Genus

What do lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii var. motia), and gingergrass (Cymbopogon martinii var. sofia) essential oils have in common? Well you may have noticed the similarity in their names -- they all belong to the same genus of lemongrasses native to India and Indonesia. They each belong to the poaceae or grass family. Often times focusing on including nutrient rich foods in our diet and avoiding "junk" can make a world of difference. Seeds are nutritious, rich in fat

I recently went to Virginia to visit family. My in laws live on a lake with a screened in porch. We'd typically start the day on the porch enjoying conversation, breakfast, and the morning sun. The rest of the day we'd enjoy walks and runs along tree-lined roads, frisbee golf, swimming in the lake, family meals, and more relaxing and conversation on the porch. While there I felt like I was sleeping better than at home and I was reminded about a Temecula Ted talk I had watched by Dr. Hizon.(1) He mentioned that a good night sleep begins in the morning and talked about how light affects our sleep. I decided to investigate this a little further and share for friends who have sleep issues. There
